About 90% of world trade is carried on the marine territory by ships, which is the most energy-efficient and environment friendly mode of transporting cargo. The three main types of goods transported by sea are dry bulk, oil and containerised cargo. These are transported using a variety of ships, designed and built to best accommodate the cargo they were meant for.
